"NEW GENERATION" PROGRAM

Iakov Chernikhov was innovative pedagogue at his time, attaching great importance to the problems of architectural education and teaching to special subjects. He is known as the author of a number of instructional methods and educational programs in the field of design, architecture and architectural graphics.

The Iakov Chernikhov International Foundation established the «New generation» program aimed at backing up the innovative pedagogical concepts, organization of teaching the subjects of graphics and architecture at the higher and secondary schools, including the development of the principles of teaching architectural subjects worked out in the 20-ies by Iakov Chernikhov.

The «New generation» program comprises scientific, methodological and organizational assistance to the prospective young architects, architectural schools, studios and children gifted in the field of architecture, graphics and design.

Within the frameworks of the program the following actions are carried out:

Competition of the diploma projects of the CIS countries
In 2002 the ICIF instituted a special prize for the best conceptual diploma project within the annual review of diploma projects from CIS countries as arranged by the Interregional Public Organization of Promoting Architectural Education. The prizes included a diploma, a facsimile copy of one of Iakov Chernikhov’s graphic works, and a monetary prize in the amount of $1000. Details…

Backing up of children’s architectural creative work: Foundation hands in the prizes (the prize fund amounts to $2,500-$3,500), diplomas, and facsimile copies of Iakov Chernikhov’s works at the annual festival «Zodchestvo» organized by the Union of Architects of Russia in the nomination "Show of Children’s Architectural and Artistic Creative work".
